Frequently Asked Questions
What is a free consultation call?
You can call 941-281-5997 to talk briefly about why you are seeking counseling and how I may help so that you can determine if you feel we are a good fit. We can talk about whether you are using insurance, and how your insurance can be billed. We will set up your first appointment and how payment is handled.
What can I expect my first session?
During your first session, we will talk about the reason you are seeking counseling, the history, and what you want to achieve from counseling (your goal). We will spend time talking about your strengths and resources that can help you and how we can work together to achieve your goal. Most therapy sessions last 50 minutes, and are tailored to your specific needs. We will schedule following sessions together at the end of each session. Session frequence and duration of treatment is adjusted based on your progress toward your treatment goal or goals.
After my session, how is payment made?
Copays/coinsurance is due at the end of each session, and can be made by credit card through the company who will bill your insurance. If you are not using insurance, then toward the end of our session I will activate a secure payment window through Stripe.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled with 24 hour notice by calling 941-281-5997 or emailing at clcarnes@aehclinicalsw.com. Because your appointment time is reserved especially for you, cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no shows will be assessed a $75 fee. Insurance does not cover this cost, the client is responsible for payment of this fee. Extenuating circumstances can be taken into consideration, so it’s always best to contact me as soon as you know about the time conflict or as soon after the missed appointment as possible so we can work together to get you rescheduled.
Do you take my Insurance?
Your Insurance can be billed through a secondary provider to ensure you can be seen for the cost of your copay, making your therapy sessions affordable and ensuring you don’t have to struggle with claim forms and reimbursement issues. When you contact me to set up your initial appointment, I’ll send you a link via email to establish a profile, list your insurance information which will then verify your coverage and copay amount before your first appointment. The serices page lists insurance plans accepted.
